If anyone can enlighten me, I’d really appreciate it! UI UpdateĪ UI update is a scary thing for me! Does it mean that my tutorial that are all done in v5 and 6 will need updating? I have no idea at this stage. I’ve seen rendering to layers before in Strata but I don’t think this is what Martin is talking about. I’m not saying they don’t exist but it’s not something that I’ve used and I struggle to even understand how it would work. I’ve not seen layers in any 3D application before. Probably the most intriguing feature on the list. It’s an absolute must if you’re doing any organic modelling. The softer selection has less influence but whatever you do (move, scale) still has an impact. If you’ve never used it, it’s quite hard to explain but I’ll try anyway:- Soft selection allows you to select part of a model and then take an additional softer selection of it’s surrounding points. I first encountered them in Silo and what a great feature it is. Soft selections is something I’ve personally requested.

Initially I was just thinking about things like TV screens, but actually it could go way further than this. Cheetah3D is a powerful and easy to learn 3D modeling, rendering and animation application which was developed from the ground up for Mac OS X. The possibilities here seem pretty endless. I can see a huge benefit here though and it’s something I’ve seen requested in the forum a good few times over the years. I think this is because I largely produce still images with Cheetah3D.

Personally I’ve never really needed movie textures. I can actually see this changing the way I model completely. It’s very hard to move on and continue modelling after you’ve used a boolean at present. Booleans have never been particularly useful in Cheetah3D as the meshes that you end up with are quite messy. Could we finally see the much requested render preview? NGon Booleans

My knowledge of rendering isn’t the best and I’m not sure what to expect here. There’s a few in there that I’m pretty excited about, and I must confess I do know of some other features that are planned too but I’m sworn to secrecy on them! I looked around and stumbled on Cheetah3D which is Mac centric in user design and affordable, especially in creating objects. Maya and 3ds Max are out of my price range and Blender has a steep learning curve which I have attempted in earlier version.

I still want to do the physics and some of the other items inside XCode. dae's and obj's, I looked around at an alternative to build the 3D objects. Given that this is Apple's first attempt at adding in these capabilities and that we can import. I also don't want to beat my head against the wall trying to figure out why I can get the same result as the video. Had problem which was resolved in no time.

I think Apple is going in the right direction to build in 3D modelling inside XCode, particularly with Metal and Model I/O. Lets have a side-by-side comparison of Cheetah3D vs Adobe Dimension CC for enterprises to find out which one. When the three are selected the rotate individually in unison but not as a block. Seriously I had never appreciated the 'shake to find cursor' gesture so much as when it wasn't available to me, or that when pressing cmd (ctrl) tab not being able to use the cursor to select the app rather than being forced to tab through all open apps (which can be a lot in this day and age especially if you are a developer), or that I can. Also tried using magic mouse with the same results. I tried all the different gesture combination.
